Even with just under two weeks left until the big day (eeep), there is still plenty of time (two full weekends in fact) for you to enjoy a Christmas day out with your children. There are always events on wherever you live such as Christmas markets, visits to Santa’s grotto and school Christmas fairs that you can go along to and feel all Christmassy. Our family also loves going along to stately homes that have been decorated for the season- take a look at the National Trust and English Heritage for properties open over Christmas near you.
Family Fun at Christmas
Here’s a few great posts that we’ve found rounding up some ideas for festive fun.
Over at Tin Box Traveller they have comprehensively rounded up loads of great things to do across the UK and have helpfully sorted it all alphabetically by place name. They have also pointed on towards other posts with further ideas so you can be sure to find something near you that will suit your family. They have also put in links for the really big winter attractions in Edinburgh and London that happen every year.
Another great post to visit is the Great Big Christmas Days Out Linky that “Are we nearly there yet?” hosted in November. A linky is a post that has loads of links to other posts- this one they are all themed around Christmas Days Out. These ideas are all particularly suited if you live in the south of England.
day out with the kids is always worth a visit when you lack inspiration on where to go or are looking for reviews on somewhere new. They have pulled together 10 Christmas days out including where you can still see the Coca Cola truck and some of the big festive attractions where you can spend a whole day visiting Santa, seeing magical illuminations and even having a close encounter with some reindeer.
The Guardian has produced one of the biggest Christmas events round-up of them all. It has a comprehensive list of events from big to small that are split by region and covers all of Britain and Northern Ireland. A lot of the events run until the end of December and some listed are New Year events such as the Twelfth Night celebrations at the Beamish Museum in County Durham which is running from 27 Dec to 6 Jan. Check out their extensive list to find something for your family before Christmas and after.
What are you waiting for? Find an event and take all the family to make Christmas that little bit more special this year. Whatever you decide to do, Kid Transit wish you a Merry Christmas and a relaxing New Year!
